Amid the prevailing West Asia crisis that has disrupted global trade and shaken economies, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday held crucial discussions with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
“Happy to receive the US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio. We discussed sustained progress in the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership and issues related to regional and global peace and security. India and the United States will continue to work closely for the global good,” PM Modi said on X.

According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, Secretary Rubio briefed the Prime Minister on the sustained progress in bilateral cooperation across a wide range of sectors, including defence, strategic technologies, trade and investment, energy security, connectivity, education and people-to-people ties.
Secretary Rubio also shared the U.S. perspective on various regional and global issues, including the situation in West Asia.
Prime Minister Modi reaffirmed India’s consistent support for peace efforts and reiterated the call for a peaceful resolution of the conflicts through dialogue and diplomacy.
PM Modi requested Secretary Rubio to convey his warm greetings to President Trump and said that he looked forward to their continued exchanges.
During the meeting, EAM Jaishankar and NSA Ajit Doval were also present.
Rubio, who arrived in India earlier today to attend the Quad Foreign Ministers’ summit, also extended PM Modi an invitation to visit the US on behalf of American President Donald Trump.
Earlier in the day, Rubio kickstarted his maiden four-day visit to India by visiting Mother House, the headquarters of Saint Teresa’s Missionaries of Charity, in Kolkata.
After spending about an hour at the Mother House, the US Secretary of State visited Nirmala Sishu Bhawan, which is run by Missionaries of Charity, and the Victoria Memorial in the capital city of West Bengal.
He is also scheduled to travel to Agra and Jaipur during his diplomatically significant four-day trip.
